Beth Stern talks 2016 Bash For The Bulldogs, Howard, Long Island & more
While talking to Beth Ostrosky Stern for Downtown Magazine, I was able to fit in a few questions for Beth about Long Island. She and Howard are often seen on Long Island, and the Beth Stern & Friends' Bash For The Bulldogs event on Dec. 12 is being put on by Long Island Bulldog Rescue.
More info on the event -- which takes place at The London NYC -- can be found on www.longislandbulldogrescue.org. Beth can be followed on Twitter via @BethStern.
How did you first start working with the Long Island Bulldog Rescue team?
Beth: Howard and I had a beautiful bulldog named Bianca for nine glorious years. We met Laurette [Richin] and her L.I. Bulldog rescue team and have been supporting their efforts ever since. We love bulldogs and understand the breed.
As a board member of the LIBR, what sort of work are you usually involved with for the organization?
Beth: As a founding Board Member, my role has been to bring awareness of the plight of bulldogs who are misunderstood and neglected. They are very popular now, but many people buy them with no understanding of what is involved with their care. I help the organization raise funds at the annual Bash For The Bulldogs.
When did you first travel to Long Island? Was it for modeling? When you were dating Howard?
Beth: My work with North Shore Animal League brought me to Long Island when I was modeling in New York City. Howard and I spend our weekends and summers at our home in the Hamptons. We love Long Island. It is home to us.
Howard seems to have a love/hate relationship with Long Island. What is it about the Island that makes you two spend so much time there?
Beth: We love it.
Do you have a favorite town or part of Long Island?
Beth: The Hamptons.
What about a favorite restaurant on the Island?
Beth: Redbar [Brasserie] in Southampton.
